Once upon a time, you knew you were from Montana if…
Once upon a time, you knew you were from Montana if...
We’ve all seen those lists. You know you’re from Montana if...
...your town has more bars than grocery stores.
...you’ve suffered both sunburn and frostbite in the same week.
...you measure distance in hours, not miles.
But there is – or rather, there was – another sure sign that you were from Montana.
We Montanans could count on our elected officials — even our Senators, Congressmen and
Governors – to rub shoulders with us at public meetings, respond to our phone calls and even
answer questions from the press.
What happened to that Montana? Why is it that nowadays most of our elected officials only
reach out via telephone town halls, private events at the invitation of the favored few or when
they’re desperate for our votes?
Let’s get back to where we can say...
You know you’re from Montana if your politicians are just regular, approachable folks — folks
who’d stop by to listen to our concerns and then make good on their promises to do what’s best
for Montana.
